Cat Northfield

Cat is a visual artist based in Mid-Wales, UK.  Cat won joint-third prize in the Gwenllian Ashley Art Prize 2024 with her artwork ‘Evolution Revolution’. She was nominated for an Excellence Award, and received Student of the Year Award at Coleg Ceredigion in 2024, where she completed the Foundation Art & Design Diploma, gaining a distinction. Cat went on to study classical portrait painting in oils under acclaimed artist Louis Smith. Her work has been exhibited at Aberystwyth School of Art, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Aberaeron’s Gallery Gwyn, Mid Wales Arts Gallery, Neath's Queen St Gallery, MOMA Machynlleth and Cista Arts online 'Thresholds' exhibition (July 2025).

" I am inspired by flights of fancy, transformation, contrast and tension. Charcoal, and oil paint are my preferred materials, but I enjoy experimenting with other mediums. I am currently focusing on portraiture and figures."
